Contests and Calls for Submissions: poets, memoirists, children's writers, humorists, novelists & feminists


A competition with absolutely no restrictions on content, length or type of poetry. Grand prize is $1,000. Second and third place win $100 and $50, and there will also be three honorable mentions. All six finalists will be published in the February 2011 issue of Gemini.
 
Entry fee: $5 for up to three poems.
Deadline: December 31, 2010


Memoir (and)
Prizes for Memoir in Prose or Poetry are awarded to the most outstanding prose or poetry memoirs—traditional, nontraditional or experimental—drawn from the reading period.
Our next submission period—for works eligible for Issue 9 Prizes and publication—will open at noon Pacific time, November 1, 2010 and close at noon Pacific time, February 16, 2011. Snail mail submissions must be postmarked no later than February 16, 2011 in order to be considered.

Prose or Poetry

Money for Women Grants
$20 Application fee
Offers grants of up to $1,500 to poets, fiction and nonfiction writers, visual artists, and for a mixed- genre category (illustration and text) to feminist women in the arts. Two deadlines each year:
December 31 (art and fiction) and June 30 (nonfiction and poetry). Fund does not maintain an email, phone, or website. To request application materials, write to the postal address and be sure to include a SASE.
