Take My Word For It! Creative Writing for Kids

“Take My Word For It!” offered an innovative curriculum in after-school and community-based creative writing programs designed especially for young authors. During the 2012–13 school year, I taught three 8-week classes for 4th–6th graders at Sonoma Mountain Elementary and McNear Elementary in Petaluma, Ca. Each class culminated in a public reading at Copperfield's Books, our local independent bookstore. As a teacher, I value community education as a means of promoting literacy and empowerment through creative expression.
